  • I did it pretty much untrained (I did a 10 and a hill climb last week, prior to that my last climb was in the Pyrenees in July!!) but it was almost to my advantage since I rode out of my skin not really knowing what I was doing. I don't remember taking as long to recover after any sprint finish in a race. I'm annoyed i didn't bother changing my HR batteries.. would've been interesting to see HR vs. Power. Oh well.

Think the recovery thing comes from lack of training - sounds very similar to a 10m TT that my wife entered me for back in September. I did no specific training; average heart rate was 181 with a peak of 189 (to put this into perspective when I was assessed on a SRM Scientific with a proper ramp test, I topped out at 186 after 12 mins).

I am sure that if I had done some training (like 2 weeks or so of specific training) I would have been slower!

Rebecca commented afterwards that she had never seen anyone just sit down and look "lost" for so long after a race!

587W over 2 mins is seriously impressive! My assessment saw a peak one minute average of 412W. I'm probably a little older than you - however, I was told that this was a very good score for someone of my age and would put me at Cat 2 level with the appropriate fitness and race craft! That was before losing the weight that he advised me I should be doing....
