well the only things in the above list i paid proper money for were the assos shorts and they were from parkers/ribble so only £60-£80 everything else was either given to me, on sale or trade price
rapha merino base layers are not expensive though i would happly pay RRP for them -

I grew up wearing the Gan and Z team kits. A man can only take so much fluro.
Rapha is my church.

This from Dirt Rag's sister magazine, (http://lnk.nu/dirtragmag.com/11lt.php) made by Earth Wind & Rider (EWR @ http://www.earthwindandrider.com/)
I have an EWR thick Merino top and it's very nice indeed, and their after sales service is great. I had a sizing issue with Large or Extra Large due to my gorilla like arms. They were instantly responsive and brimming with help, very personal. I think they care about their customers.
The shirt above is $130, about £75, which gives you £35 in hand over the Rapha medium weight merino jersey. That could go toward post (from USA) and any VAT (£11.00) you might get busted with at customs.

Phew, I thought I was going to have to get one of these, but managed to find an alternative.
Managed to maintain my one-competition-prize-piece-of-Rapha-kit status.

ignore my recommendations at your peril, Bummpkopf!
-
• #2191
£20, and I'd have bought one without looking for an alternative. We're not all in your income bracket, you fucking production whore.

Fine talk from the man with a bike made from titanium, i should say.
-
• #2193
Someone had to die for me to get it. That makes it okay.

as long as it wasn't me.
I'll stick to the frame material of the working classes ; steel.
-
• #2195
I think you mean carbon. Steel's been co-opted by poshers.
I can't continue this fascinating discussion any longer. I've spent far too much time today getting sprayed with vomit and watery shit on public transport. The network card discount failed to make it an acceptable experience.

Yes, but not as pricey.

Well I decided to eschew Rapha in favour of massively cheaper kit off ebay, called Tenn. Been wearing for the last couple of days and I love it. No idea how long it will last but so far the base, jersey, softshell and tights are keeping me toasty (although they did struggle today. Note to self: need warmer gloves. deFeet anyone?. And maybe a second buff/cap)
How did it go with the Tenn stuff? Good quality? Long lasting?
maybe stuff a couple of satsumas down there then?
