I have an old Sun frame, was going to do it up but the BB is stuck and to be honest I don't think the frame is really worth the effort. Keeping it at a mate's at the moment, will check when I'm next there (probably Thursday) and if it's a Birmingham headbadge you're more than welcome to it.
Also got the forks, with the little plastic Sun logo insert, if you're interested. Not sure they'll take 700c though.
Yes, thanks! I'm interested in both the forks and head badge (provided the head badge is "Birmingham", of course). Please let me know what's what. I'll PM you.

Before getting bogged down with the headbadge I'd personally sort out some foot retention and a better chainset, those Maxy(?) ones kinda cheapen an otherwise lovely looking bike. Also I agree with whoever suggested black Brooks tape, would look great.
Glad the bike didn't fall in the river while you took these photos.
Forgot to mention that I've since added toe clips (I was awaiting straps at the time). As for the chainset, any suggestions?

Okay, my current & first project, converting a MTB to a fixie right?
I've got drop bars so far, but I'm eager to put them on.The gear shifts are gripshifts. So, is it alright to disconnect the whole shifting system? Will that be fine to just leave it on the highest gear without a shifter, would it cause any problems?
Or shall I just wait til I convert to SS first?

Hiya
Thanks for the advice on my merckx build. Loving the commute and am looking out for some open pro's as I do listen sometimes.....
I fancied an easy track project to sink my teeth into so picked up the gazelle below for 400 quid
(I think inc. postage) .
I just bought some 700cc wheels for 140 quid fo now if I keep original. I hope they fit (the seller said they would).Any suggestions ?- keep it nice an' original ? or restore/respray/rebuild using modern ?

What ya building?
Also what tyres you looking at putting on those beauties?
Just finished a Velocity Blunt (28mm as opposed to the Gordos 35mm*) based front wheel, and the WTB Weirwolf 2.55 I mounted on looked nice and fat.- bit jealous.

They're for a singular peregrine. I'm having the rims built with a goldtec XC at the front and goldtech single speed at the back as shown in the photo.
Not sure about the tyres yet there are a few contenders; the Weirwolfs are one of them and I'm also looking at Racing Ralphs and a few other tyres that I can't remember the names of.
The rims feel extrememly solid and suprisingly light for their size.

My 2p...
- The tread on the Weirwolf LT (low tread) is pretty low in the center.
- A standard Weirwolf tire with deeper tread is coming out/already out.
- The 2.4 racing ralph is apparantly a bigger tyre than the 2.55 Wierwolf.
Tyres is personal though, and you can never tell untill you've tried them. I'm planning on getting a Geax Saguaro for the rear, with the weirwolf on the front. I have two of the weirwolfs though (they were 1/2 price at JeJames), so I may try them out front and rear first.

Nothing in particular I guess... something modern, shiny and adaptable (first pic), or if you want that classic one-piece look, you can often pick up those kinda prettier Maxy ones (second pic). Personally I'd go for the former as you can adjust for an even chain tension, the other ones will probably leave you with a droopy spot that you can never remedy.
