Before getting bogged down with the headbadge I'd personally sort out some foot retention and a better chainset, those Maxy(?) ones kinda cheapen an otherwise lovely looking bike. Also I agree with whoever suggested black Brooks tape, would look great.
Glad the bike didn't fall in the river while you took these photos.
