anyone know why yoshi kono at 3rensho produced so many trippy looking frames and yet none of the other njs builders seem to have done so. did he have japanese surrealist art funding or something or just a low boredom threshold. never seen a wobbly tubed nag.

And light too. On my list for the future as not many track frames (none?) come in at 1200g. Definitely help me get towards a 6kg bike.

if i could justify having a dedicated bike for the track
it would be a dolan without a doubt -

Doesn't make a lot of sense for frame makers to devellop frames lighter than that.
UCI doesn't allow bikes lighter than 6.8 kg.
So, frames will not become much lighter, just stiffer, stronger, nicer, cheaper, etc.
Even with normal gear the min. weight is easily achieved.
If you have a lighter frame, you have to puit some steel or lead inside to be able to race it.Of course, for non-racers it could make sense to have a lighter bike than 6.8 kg, especially for the poseurs factor...
If you compare it with all the road frame that are sub 900g, the 1200g for the frame only is rather heavy.
But okay, most track frames are havier, 800 is not very expensive for a carbon frameset and it looks nice.

UCI doesn't allow bikes lighter than 6.8 kg.What has the UCI got to do with it. I have no intention of entering any UCI controlled event and neither do 99.n% of any of cyclists.
I just like light bikes and as you agreed, 1200g is light for a track frame although nothing special when compared to the latest road frames. I can see your point though and there is no great need for superlight track frames when stiffness is a more important factor.
