I can see why people would want personal retribution on the filth that lurks down Brick Lane. Even if a few individual sellers see the wrong side of a D-Lock and an Adidas 3 stripe, that probably won't send them home with a tale between their legs never to think of doing such an act again. They will be out stealing the same afternoon as it beats working for a living. If it was bill-boarded/postered around the areas selling bikes that 'Stolen Bikes are Being Sold Here' (or similar) surely that is one move that could embarrass a few potential buyers looking for a bargain (sorry if point has already been covered). And it's these people that fuel the business. Saying that, if sellers encouter a problem with selling in an area, they just move elsewhere. Like prostitution and the police.
