not really getting these comments re. the track. surely if you get you're line right the incline of the bank means you don't get strike.
That would be true if you went around the corners perpendicular to the angle of the banking, i.e. with the bike at 90 degrees to the effective floor.
In my experience (as the worlds slowest track rider it has to be said) you end up more or less vertical with reference to the actual ground rather than the banking as you go around the corner, therefore the right hand pedal at the bottom of the pedal stroke is fairly close to the banking that you are riding on.
Hence the need for a high bottom bracket and a short crank relative to road bikes.
