  • I love this thread already!! Shame I've got not time at all these days... Here are pictures taken a while ago...

My "home made" turntables (Based on Lenco and Thorens mechanics, both long base plinth so I could fit a 12" arm if one day I can afford it... My dad did the frame for the Thorens plinth, I'm not that good! and don't have the proper equipments):

    Lenco:

    Thorens:

The rest of the equipment is quite standart otherwise...

  • this is my amplifier

Wow!! I did not know you had this one!! I have the same too (slightly different version), but it failed and I don't know where to get it repaired locally, cheap, and with proper componments (not modern chinese made...)

  • mm. used to have one, but who has the space for vinyl setups anymore? ( as someone else said above).

LP12 approaches perfection......Only if it has a Naim Armageddon power supply and Naim Aro arm!

  • Any of you people in to valve amps? Or built your own gain clone amp?

Yeah - built my own gainclone - well from a partial kit - awesome sounding amp and very simple build.

Also built my own speakers - mass loaded transmission line fullrange/single driver Fostex's

  • I put everything through a Pioneer SA-508 from about 1980, it sounds great but I admit to having a fairly pedestrian set of speakers.

  • the amp at home ( not actually mine but i have in my bedrooom a system based around one of these ) nice sound definately

    • shakes head at pistanator * sl-1200's are not in the same league as the hi-fi stuff above *tuts and tuts again *
  • My setup.

  • used to have one of these,

    great amps for the time

  • Go to Grahams in Islington...they will sort youout!

has looked very shut every time i go past on new north road.

edit: that Pioneer SA-508 is lovely

    edit edit, willy waving time:
    system one: a huge silver 70s sony tuner, avondale arcam 5 cd, naim 42.5/naim nap 140 , b&w 603
system two: cheap sony dvd player into the dac of sony tae1000esd with tapco s8 monitors(http://www.thevintageknob.org/SONY/sonyes/TAE1000ESD/TAE1000ESD.html)

  • Had a pair of these for a very short while

Then realised it was very sad, sold them a bought a new car
At least I never bought these

    Now have this

    with these,

    spiffing

  • I love electrostatic speakers. Probably will never be able to afford or justify the expense for a set of full rangers, but hey! I still love them.

Maybe one day I get some nice electrostatic headphones.

  • the best-sounding bit of audio kit i own :

  • my temporary set up

  • I used to work on the Pan Euro and Asian advertising for Steinway Lyngdorf and ended up having a personal demo of this by Peter Lyngdorf at some ridiculous showhome in Chelsea. The sound was unbelievable. Shame they currently retail for ~$170K

  • i like your wallpaper, russell.

  • i like your wallpaper, russell.

ha ha i know its great, the room i rent was a kids room

  • I am happy with my modern NAD amp, nd BOSE speakers for now.... my old cheap turntable died a few months ago, and have been thinking about investing in something half decent.

on another note.... my BOSE QC2 headphones broke the other day...... one week after the warranty ran out.

    annoyed to say the least.

  • epic wallpaper russell. beats my formula 1 cars wallpaper hands down

  • The best-sounding bit of my set up:

*NB this isn't actually my record collection

  • epic wallpaper russell. beats my formula 1 cars wallpaper hands down

    a bit 'Brokeback Mountain', though

  • The most shameful part of my set up...

  • And the mid-table obscurity
