Thanks. Any suggestions welcome!

If you find your bike to be pretty comfortable when riding, I don't think you'd need to change anything.

Any Raleigh-afficionados recognise her? Frame number is W 8001386 if that helps.
hmm,interesting -
IIRC - 'W' prefix means built in the old Carlton factory at Worksop; and I think the '8' signifies 1978. Wasn't aware of anything Raleigh-badged coming out of Worksop then though, could yours originally have been a Carlton (or Sun or Triumph)?--

ah - I might have been talking bollocks there - see
[ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raleigh_Bicycle_Company[/ame]"Third Symbol is the year of manufacture, e.g. 4-9 would be 1974-1979, 0-3 would be 1980-83, and then the sequence repeats. Thus, 'WH4003203' would be the 3203rd frame built at Worksop in June 1974. In 1982, when Worksop production was moved to Nottingham, the division continued to produce frames with the 'W' designation."

My next victim.
What I have in mind for her will send that build straight into the anti-porn hell (fixed gear, deep-v rims, white tyres, nitto bar), but I'm planning to give her a second chance later on and turn it back into a fully Campy geared bike with some Delta brakes, vintage 36h rims and nice Record hubs. As long as my wife doesn't find out how much it will cost me...

• #16260
nothing very exotic i'm afraid... just looking forward to having some gears! sorry to disappoint- how was the choc ice?!
-
• #16261
choc ice update: not bad, a little on the small side so it gets a 6/10. pretty good choc to ice ratio. may go back for another.
good luck with the gears, bet it will be fun.

Just finished stripping off all of the braze-ons from my Lejeune 531 frame. Getting it sprayed a metallic gray at Armourtex when I have a few more dorrah, then making my own decals and building it up. Has anyone here had any frames sprayed a silver / gray colour at Armourtex before?
-
• #16263
Have you *un-*brazed them with a blowtorch or used a dremmel?
-
• #16264
I used a hacksaw, then file, then wet / dry sandpaper. Took an absolute age but is looking pretty good.
-
• #16265
You're brave. Well, if you're redoing the whole thing it's better to do it properly.
I'd remove the braze-ons on my frames, but both still have a decent finish and I don't want to rape them at Armour*ex yet -
• #16266
Yeah, it sounds like it is better to wait until the frame needs a total respray before doing any structural work. Does anyone know any good decal printers on the forum or in London?
-
• #16267
There's a thread about decals :-)
This is quite interesting

Picked up off TradeMe pretty damn cheap..
Anyone have an idea of what it might be? I'm sure it's not a Reiker, it was just re-painted by them. I'm confused by the Cinelli on the BB and the Colnago 'club' on the seatpost lug..

ok ok! First time caller, long time listener....
This is my first, and current build. Obviously I'm not going for the "classic look", more of a street bike thingy ma bob. I'm sort of collecting decent bits in the process (yes I know they're Andel Cranks) so I can put them on a more decent frame later.
Opinions and Charge Plug haters please!!

^ Are they really that bad? They do look pretty spiffy...
Look like a time trial frame.
it look like a good little bike, may I suggest rotating the handlebar down a bit?
