I seriously think if they just removed all those cycle boxes and but kept the stop line that far back the cars, vans, buses and trucks would stop there. Motorbikes would still go to the front of the cars of course, and cyclists could just go to the front of the motorbikes. I think you'd eliminate scooters barging to the front of they cyclists. ASLs cause more trouble than they are worth.
Anyway different discussion, but when I am king we'll sort this shit out.

You know you can stop at every light and still be faster than everyone else (well I can, dunno about you slow fucks :P) and completely fucked by arrival time? Win Win
Absolutely, I love that smug feeling when I've overtaken the cunt who jumped the light I stopped at.

mopeds up the inside of cycle lanes is getting a little irksome, and the cycle lanes! i get the bus lanes but when they are mixing it up in the cycle box it slows everything down!

Having an Americanised accent puts you at a distinct disadvantage when dealing with Po', even though they asked what country I was from, I guess being Comedian* isn't as important as I had previously thought.
corrected!

I get the feeling that if you are caught RLJing on the Essex Road, you should probably give up cycling, and take the bus. Given that there seem to be police there, handing out tickets for RLJing, every other week.
why should that stop people from giving up cycling? least it will likely to force them to either stop at red light and/or proceed a RLJ carefully (in case little piglets is around).

A solo-moto-cop at the junction of Greys Inn and Theobolds was sitting at the lights heading north; I heading south RLJ'ed natch, and so did many other fixie skidders, huh.
So the solo-moto-cop tries to screen through the white helmet he has fastend to his mouth "red light means stop", I let an loud involintary "Ha" at said po'po, he was so pissed off, it was great.,
The End.

I caught grief yesterday off a guy riding pillion on the back of his girlfriend's/wife's/sister's scooter. I was slowly filtering to the front of the lights in the green 'cycle' lane.... But apparently this lane is not for bikes at all, but actually reserved for Kensingtonites on lambrettas and cyclists should 'get the f*ck out of the way!'.
Of course I appologised sincerely and explained I was unaware that mopeds were entitled to requisition my road space without let or hindrance...

My uncle is one of those part time police officers, not the hobby bobbies but just does it couple of days a week. He was telling me that in London there's been an increase in accidents in junctions due to cyclists. Well I say due to cyclists, that's what drivers are saying. Basically some drivers who are going through a green light, see a cyclist not necessarily going through a red light, but just pulling to the front of the queue of traffic at a red light, and they think that the cyclist is going to pull out into moving traffic so they brake, resulting in an accident. Or so drivers are saying. Not sure how common this is actually becoming but I thought I'd mention it for an example of ridiculousness.

I was waved over by a bobby for RLJ today (it makes it worse that I was in Shoreditch). There was another bloke who was stopped aswell, and he really didn't like it. He began telling the copper how to do his job etc, at this point I started to think 'fuck, this guy is going to get us both tickets'. But much to my surprise the Policeman asked me if I knew I'd done wrong and just let me go. I would love to know what happened to the other chap. Doubt if his day went so well...
I mostly felt like a twat for doing it in plain sight of an officer of the law, but it should check my habits. And learning to track stand would encourage me to stop. To show off infront of others :)

Got pulled by a Bike Cop in Holborn on my way into town today.
He told me I was due a £30 fine and was telling me off about having no brakes and how he understands it's 'trendy' to brakeless etc etc.
Managed to blag my way out of it luckily. :)

The other day, I was stopped by the police for doing RLJ when turning left. The police car pulled up beside me and said "Do you think red lights don't apply to you?". I rattled something off about how I thought that Boris had introduce legislation for allowing left hand turns on read lights, they explained how it was illegal but luckily let me off.

the other day was pulled over by police man he told me it was £500 fine and that he had just this week had to "scrape" two cyclists off the pavement because they ran red lights the first was hit by a truck, and the other hit a pedestrian. The collision with the ped must have killed the cyclist because he didn't explain any further.
I explained that i wasn't runnning the red but there was no bike zone so i had gone out ahead so as to be infront of traffic, he told me not to ride a bike in london if i was scared of traffic.an all round great police attitude i think.

you don't need a 'bike zone' to ride your bike.

BOOOOOORING. If you want to run red lights, be careful. This involves not getting hit by other vehicles and making sure no Police are around. Easy ain't it?
If you get caught you can only blame it on your own negligence.

and i did see the policeman so i stoped it was just a lil after the red light
i know i was at fault i just didn't appreciate being lied to and told i should man up, the police are for our protection, and if it was true and i didn't feel safe on my bike i would like to think the govts attitude is not man up and dont ride if your scared
Ah, thanks! Would never have thought of such a phrase.
