  • anyone has any experience with these? I'm undecided between these and randonneurs both 28c

    contacts are 5 pounds more expensive than randonneurs

    any comments?

    thanks a lot

  • Are you asking for it?

  • ahahah well, I'm not sure...this can go either way!

    I utfs and found nothig on continental contacts here...I have only a couple reviews on wiggle which are not brilliant but your post about randonneurs being super hard to install scared me a bit!

  • i'm about to use conti contact as well. they look fine, really tough shit.

  • I search continental contacts, found a topic about anit-punctures tyres, bingo.

  • ed: I found only a topic about some guy selling a pair, thanks!

    nuknow: acho que vou escolher randonneurs, mais baratos e leves.

  • I really don't know for sure, haven't used them yet. But they look really high quality.. (what do i know...)

  • I have these on "the mongrel" in 35mm.

    They are pretty heavy, and the reinforced side walls make them quite stiff. But despite what Hippy will come along and say soon, they are pretty p_n_tr resistant, last ages, and dont cut up.

  • Aren't there loads of different contacts? Sport, travel, top, etc. All completely different in weight, purpose, puncture resistance and speed.

    I've used the sport contact on a 26 inch wheel (25x1.3 IIRC) and they seemed pretty fast and puncture resistance was good.

    ...and City contact.
    The ones I posted are travel contact, which are one of the few which have the side wall reinforcement. I bought them for the side lugs, as I often cut through mud/gravel paths.

    Sport Contact
    City Contact
    Top Contact
    Contact
    Travel Contact

  • Sports are the shittest tyre I ever used.

  • I use tops, last longer than randos.

    Not very pleasant on the front, have a tendency to roll around corners, enjoy them on the back though.

    Also make a rather satisfying loud fart noise when skidding.

  • I read a couple accounts review that sports contact can be a bit slippy in the wet. Thinking of putting one on the front - or maybe not. Dunno yet

  • I use the contacts, 28, and loving them, impossible to puncture, have ridden them alot in the woods without a single flat.. But beware,when they are new they are REALLY slippery on smooth surfaces.

  • I had a continental contact once,

    Her name was Isabelle and she was from Paris.

    I thanggyou!

  • try 0031 for france

  • sports contact are ok. Not much grip in the wet though.. good in dry. Don't last that long.

    I've heard gatorskins are good?

  • I was talking about the contact contacts.

    I reckon gator skins are ace. Got one on my back wheel. Puncture resistant of course, quick and grippy as a superglued monkey.

    Been reading reviews for a tire to replace my front wheel stock maxxis detonator. General concensus on Conti sport contact are they are poo. On the other hand Conti GP's, all the user reviews rave about. Think i'll be getting one of those for the front unless i come across something better

  • PM hippy, he's their PR guy for the UK.

  • These are the ones I was talking about, Contact Contact, but with the reflective stripe, which I find really unappealing.

  • I have the sport contact, they are great but the sidewalls peel off and they dont liast under skidding

    Great but they fall apart and don't last.
    Not exactly how I'd define "great".

    PR = persistently ranting?
    PR = purchase reluctantly?
    PR = p_nct_re rapidly?

    **PR = Perfect Rack **
