  • I love that pic Dunc, the colours are incredible, did you take it in Cornwall?

Yes mate, Polperro a few years ago. It's slide film hence the vivid colours (Fuji Velvia 50) and it's not been altered except been cleaned up from the scan, dust etc.

Carl Zeiss FTW! The ones I'm looking at are about 250-400. That's months rent :E

Try contacting Arundel Photographica The guy had a million vintage cameras and I'm sure has what you're looking for. The website is just a front page, best to call of email, of if you're in the area, Arundel is an amazing little town.

  • Ha Arundel is about 10 mins from my folks house, beautiful town, you can tell why Turner was so fond of it. Also I never knew that camera centre was there, I think I'll pop down now and check it out.

Subsist, I'll ask about Rollei's for you if you like

  • @Donut Cheers! Straight to my bookmarks it goes, looks like a mental shop! Very nice!
@sorethroat That would be sweet! Much appreciated!

  • Right just been to Arundel Photographica and my god, that place is rammed full of all sorts of types of camera.
The old boy who owns it (and works there) was really friendly and helpful and seemed like he enjoyed me asking questions about each one of his million cameras.
I picked up a pretty much mint condition Yashica T5 in orignal box with case and instructions for £40, he had it up for £65 but he knocked off £25.

@Subsist, I asked about the Rolleiflex for you and he said he had one which was in near perfect condition.
It's a 'Rolleiflex 3.5E F3.5 Planar', I had a look at it and it looks in great nik. He wanted £325 for it but maybe if you were to pay him a visit and have a chat with him he would knock off a bit?

That place is worth a visit even if you're not buying, just sooo much stuff in there at some really good prices, all of which seem to be negotiable!

  • i'm slowly trying to put my favorite photos from Herne Hill in one place:

  • Flipping cracking.

  • So far I've been scouting ebay. Like I said not buying it yet so doing my research atm, but its definitely on the agenda. If you could pm a bit more detailed location of this shop that would be great!

Keep an eye on this guy as well. I have bought from him and the stuff is as described.

  • Flipping cracking.

    +1

  • For old cameras (with their inherently soft lens qualities), I've used these two places with no regrets:

    Vintage Cameras

    Marriot

i think they were contemplating a cider run to the shop.... hence Jims excitable expression.

  • Haha that photo of George Sportif is brilliant, he looks seriously pissed off

  • fuuurck, thats wicked
does he have any more?? haha

  • Yashica or Rollieflex? I think he gets the Rollei's in fairly often, not sure about Yashica's though

  • Just in case, shotgun/dibs/whatever on Rolleiflex 3.5E F3.5 Planar

  • Ahh just get a yashica TLR and get it done with, Rollei is like the Leica equation of medium format, expensive for a camera that take picture.

  • Point taken. However I had a Rollei on loan for a few weeks and it's da bomb, taken some stunning photos. Never used the TLR, any significant differences? Naturally I'm looking to save cash money If I can.

  • You have 'stunning photo' simply because you took them, the camera is simply a lightbox that expose the negative for you.

TLR - twin lens reflex, it's a type of camera, not brand model.

  • Oh I know I know. It's just the first thing that sprung to mind when recollecting about my exp with the given camera. I like the lightbox edit ;)
Is there any particular medium format cam you would recommend?

  • yashica t5 / t4super

    they're rad cameras

great camera, especially on the cheap (I have a T4 Super), the downside is the excessive vignetting at time, which to be fair are pretty normal on compact camera with wide angle lens.

well, what kind do you want? a twin lens reflex camera? SLR, folder, etc?

  • A few of photos from my Beirette. Developing costs more than the camera :0

  • this thread has inspired me to ditch the digital slr and break out my dads contax's
    cheers

  • This thread has reminded me no matter what format you shoot in, no matter whether you use digital or film, out of focus shots still look crap :)

  • I see what you are trying to say but out of foucs could also be used to achieve interesting shoots when it's deliberate:
