Some bits of Cambridgeshire are beautiful on a clear day. I'd recommend getting up to somewhere like Sandy, then go East via B1042 towards Cambridge and then turn south towards Hertford along B1368. It's slightly tricky if you don't know the route but it's mostly flat with not too much traffic.
Used to take me about 8hrs on my hybrid (26" wheels) averaging 15.5mph.
