I did a year without punct--ing on ultragators, pu-ctur-d on the way into uni to hand my end of year project in. Mini pump saved the year.
lower pressure with wider tyres is bollocks, you've got more surface area in contact with the ground to pick up bits of glass etc and you'll get pinch flats.
