  • As much as you think so, the LOOK stem is the right way up.

  • here's an example;

  • LOOKing good!

  • As much as you think so, the LOOK stem is the right way up.

Yep realise the stem is right way, just wondered who chose the logo to go that way up!

  • just wondered who chose the logo to go that way up!

    The French ?

  • was referring to the other, not just your post mate, sorry!

  • I must admit not 100% with it at the moment and it's heavy and it is a very light frame having said that feels nice to ride very sturdy not the twich you can get sometimes from other quill stems.

  • Sometimes tradition dictates that you do things which don't make modern sense.

I've similar issues with my Raleigh.

  • Sort out that crank too KC

  • hate the crank to be honest,it will be changed still a work in progress.

  • As much as you think so, the LOOK stem is the right way up.

Still fucking ugly, and that bar/stem combo on the Mercian is pure anti!

  • Function over form FTW!

  • I'm prettier than that stem!

  • It is not the nicest stem I have seen but is by far got to be the most versatile, and well engineered with a nice finish

  • Kingcutter, you will sell me the Look Ergostem.

  • My Ribble TT frame arrived yesterday afternoon - Not bad for £98 and it got here pretty quick. All I need to get hold of is a headset, handlebars, grips and a ss kit.

  • Where did you get that for that price? Ebay baragin was it?

  • Nope, brand new, it's a time trial frame, not track.

  • To those of you who think the Look stem is mounted either upside down or the right way up, it is neither.

You can take them apart and flip the middle section round to give more adjustability and if you like to have the logo facing the right way up with your desired angle.

  • what's the rear spacing on the ribble?

  • Really?
I thought, this was for road-SPD only.
But you have different generations of offroad-SPD cleats. Officially not compatible, but it might work out as different release angle cleats. But I still doubt it.
You DO have a certain multi-release cleat. If you feel uncertain, you can unclip by pulling your ancle upwards. Release angles are the same though.

i could be wrong, but I've clipped into all sorts of SPDs with the same shoes without a wrinkle. Ritchey, Shimano, Nashbar, road, mtb... and every time i go to the local store to buy cleats, I buy have a choice between 0, 7 and 15 degrees of float. Maybe I'm losing it, or maybe it's different in the states.

really though, th3e most important thing is to have the toe-in set correctly with your cleats.

  • what's the rear spacing on the ribble?

I think the rear spacing is 150mm but I'll check later on.

  • picked this up yesterday. keep grinning at it. will laquer it up for now. lovely fillet brazing needs no pimping. although it may be turning red at some point.

    what frame is that?

  • Arthur Caygill time trial frame

  • KC: I might be going against the majority here, but that look frame, with such a simple block colour and slightly over-sized tubing needs a deep section rim, ideally in the same blue as the decals.
