Nice one Mikey, well me and Sparky are out for a ride on Friday night, if you fancy it.
-
• #178
I can't do Friday. How about a Sunday pub lunch ride?
-
• #179
Plurabelle, I've just thought; is that garage on the road from Norwich to Diss? I work in Diss and ride through Old Buckenham to get to work. There's a garage somewhere on the way with lots of frames I've seen, but I've never had time to stop. I'll make time if you found some good stuff there.
I'm in Wales for a spot of night-time mountain biking on Saturday - back early afternoon Sunday. If you're all still around then I'll come out for a spin. Pub lunch ride sounds spot on.

Nope. It's just past Wreningham but before Mulbarton on the Norwich Road, the one that runs from Wymondham sort of way to Norwich. Worth checking out in the future, as he says he gets stuff in fairly regularly, though there's nothing there now. He said a couple used to come up from London and give him 25 quid for any old racer he had, no matter how shit - he said they took hundreds.

• #181
How strange. I wonder what they did with them all? I bet there were some lovely ones now and then. You around in Norwich this evening?
-
• #182
Probably powder-coated them and sold them as own-brand frames :D
Nah, fraid not. It would be a bit tricky for me to go on any evening rides as I don't fancy the country roads coming home in the dark. Boy racers a plenty round here. Probably be in and out today though, so give me a wave if you see me.

Just a thought, if you all want to do some miles why don't you go out with the local clubs at the weekend, 50 odd miles, cafe stops and most have groups that are slow enough for you :) or if you are feeling fit faster ones are there too, most of the local club riders switch over to fixed/SS at the end of the month for the winter so you won't be alone :)
-
• #184
I've thought about that before, but I'm not back from work in time.
-
• #185
I've thought about it too but always assumed club riders were of the fully lycra'd, carbon roadie variety. Are you a member Heart Attack?
-
• #186
Yes most do wear lycra and have carbon road bikes, but some just ride in baggy shorts and some ride single speeds, but they all ride bikes.
Yes I'm a member of VC Norwich (vcnorwich.co.uk) I ride as you say a carbon roadie bike and wear full lycra, but at the end of the month I'll be out almost solely on my fixed (Giant Omnium) and still knocking out 150+ miles a week throughout the winter.

I've thought about that before, but I'm not back from work in time.
Sunday rides leave Fitt Signs, Pitt Street on Sunday's at 9.30 for normally 50 miles, mostly we are back by 1pm though this depends on speeds, distance, weather etc

I've not come across that one, looks like a good club. Think I've seen you guys out and about actually - spotted a bike matching description of Robert Stronge's Colnago the day I built my fixed gear.
Would we need to get membership in advance or would it be cool to come out for a Sunday ride first?
-
• #189
Nope just turn up and join in, no need to join till you've done a couple of rides to see if its for you
-
• #190
sweet, fitts round the corner frome me gaff like... may test the water if family ties aint a waiving. thanks for the look.
-
• #191
Sunday? I'm there.
-
• #192
Nice one, I've told a couple of people that you may be there, unfortunately I'm racing for the next 3 weekends so won't be there, though I may find out where the rides are going and ride out to meet at the cafe and come back with everyone afterwards (good excuse to wind down from the races :) ).

Thats me p u p. Snarble has just returned from his travels. Hong kong? pfffft. Try Hanoi or Phnom Penh, no rules in these cities. Only saw 1 fixed; in Bangkok. Standard siam hipster clone buzzing around with a sleek blue frame with drops (bs) Let me know when you're back Pista, my flatmates are transforming our shed into a fixed gear production line...
Wowzersteed is silverish, purple rear wheel and quite a pink front tyre. -

Just back from the VCN ride - went out with the slower group to Cromer, quick cake/coffee stop and back to the city. 56 miles or so. Lovely weather, nice pace. Glad I did it, will be joining them again.
