  • Nowt wrong with The Unicorns.

    on paper - great.......in real life....try hard.

  • on paper - great.......in real life....try hard.

    Trying harder than you, clearly.

  • Although this is spot on:

"EVERY band who have a fucking MicroKorg (and hunch over with an arm obscenely and arrogantly 'over flexed' just to adjust the filter pot)"

  • Fuck grime!

  • Trying harder than you, clearly.

    can you be sure?

Bob the Builder got to UK No:1.....

  • Can you tell us some musicians that you like Hauska?

  • can you be sure?

Yes. People who have the ability usually opt for the 'less talk, more rock' approach.

  • Can you tell us some musicians that you like Hauska?

Sure.....(prepares for someone to rip apart this list)

    Bjork
    Blonde Redhead
    Deerhoof
    Tujiko Noriko
    TVOTR
    Chris Clark
    Why?
    Kate Bush
    Thee More Shallows
    Matmos
    LFO
    Jaga Jazzist
    Life Without Buildings
    Max Tundra
    Cocteau Twins
    .....

pfffff, i guess lots more....but these come to mind pretty quickly....

just because they're prolific does not translate to being better.

  • just because they're prolific does not translate to being better.

You misunderstand. They're spending less time telling everyone about their shit hot music taste, and making music of their own to demonstrate it.

I count three one trick ponies (at least) on your list. Try harder!

    You're talking about?

    Chris Clark
    Deerhoof and.....
    hmmmm
    Life Without Buildings?

  • How very dare you. Pitchfork media called: they want your desk cleared first thing tomorrow.

I like your choices apart from the Cocteau twins, Blonde Redhead and Jaga Jazzist. I respect your opinion, but what makes good music is subjective. People listen to music for different reasons. Some like to be challenged, others just wanna dance to it. I like FATHM (along with many other the bands you mentioned in the OP) and although their albums may not break any boundaries they entertain me.

    ha ha....

i'm trying to work out who you mean?

Also....this is not the arguement....i'm not protesting to have the 'best music taste' - i'm simply implying that shit music is knocking hard working, honest music out of the way just because it sells more and Johnny Public needs help with his/her attention deficit disorder.

  • The Cocteau Twins? Fucking hell.

  • ha ha....

    Honest Music? Explain?

Brilliant....thats my point entirely....you and i would have many wicked musical conversations.....just like it should be, share opinions, disagree but generally understand eachother.....

you have to understand that this rant was about the lack of understanding people have.....EVERYONE in the world has an opinion on music and therefore the 'art' of music, which is what i honestly believe people should care about, gets diluted and disregarded as nonsense.

  • It's alright, my parents don't understand me either.

  • Honest Music? Explain?

honest by way of integrity, sincerety, values, lyrical content. Having good values. Caring about what you create. Trying to create music not trying to get a hair product endorsement or look cool. Singing with your own ACCENT!!

    etc

  • The Cocteau Twins? Fucking hell.

    Cocteau Twins....fucking awesome!

This Art Of Music stuff just sounds a bit pretentious to me though. I admire your passion but I think you're assuming everyone has the same level of passion for music that you do. Like you mentioned about the Unipack. If you don't really care about bikes and just want something to get you from to A-B then the Unipack is fine, but to someone (the majority of people on this forum) who have a passion for cycling the Unipack is utter rubbish.

My point simply is, there will always be someone who thinks your musical taste is shit.

Do you like the Besnard Lakes? I've been listening to them a lot lately.

  • This is a joke, right? This whole thread is a fucking hilarious joke and the Cocteau Twins are the punchline, right?

  • honest by way of integrity, sincerety, values, lyrical content. Having good values. Caring about what you create. Trying to create music not trying to get a hair product endorsement or look cool. Singing with your own ACCENT!!

I think if you ask many of the bands you mentioned in the OP they'd say what they did met all the above criteria.
