that was great.. just the three of us as it turned out, Matt RP, Jim Jones and me.
as we were deciding where to go a young German postboy, a bit like a ginger Rolf out of the Sound of Music only not so dreamy looking, came up and asked us how many streets before he got to Slambeth Rd. We explained that the poor pencil-scrawled directions he had been given were actually showing south lambeth road, then he asked us how to get to Balham and after a few seconds explaining to his increasingly nervous "yes"s we decided to escort him up to the Vauxhall roundabout and send him on his way. Then we rode fast back through Lambeth (my favourite bit was drafting and overtaking a yellow JCB digger), up through Parliament Square, past Buckingham Palace and into Hyde Park. Then after a nice leisurely circuit in the first of the autumn sun we went our separate ways.
It was a really nice lunchtime ride, great pace, great weather and great guys to ride with. good to see you again Matt and nice to meet you Jim.

Love it. He says thanks by the way:
And it was "SCAMBETH Road" he was after - all the A-Zs in the world couldn't have helped him; he was dead lucky that LFGSS was there to save his arse.
Good ride fellas.

ha ha! that's right, "Scambeth". Poor kid.. I felt like we were the 21st century version of those westerns where suddenly three guys appear on horseback and escort the little lost cowboy to the borders of the township..
I'm going to have to edit my post, for some reason i had Jim as Jimbo. lack of sleep going on.. in fact at one point I even had him as Jumbo...
-
• #767
no worries, did anyone else think?
-
• #768
I had the uneasy feeling he was working for some cowboy delivery outfit - Balhma ffs.. did you see those royal mail postman's bags he had strapped to his rack? you got the panic in the eyes absolutely spot on there jim..
-
• #769
lol. The expression does cover it well, I reckon he was thinking there was a 20% chance we were going to whisk him away and treat him to a bit of this:

Haha. So was he on a bike delivering stuff?
-
• #771
I'm in for next week.

• #772
Anyone fancy stretching their legs this lunchtime?
-
• #773
where you think of going?
-
• #774
I ahem thought someone else might lead the way. Last time I went we went to Battersea Park. Wouldn't mind doing the same?
-
• #775
I see you lurking, Damo. You inski?
I too am a wobbly yes.
