• This has always puzzled me. Not Derren Brown (and David Blaine et al) but people's reaction to him. Either:

    1) it's some kind of clever illusion, it which case its just good entertainment, or

    2) it's fully blown, bow-down and worship, world-changing miraculous magic.

    I know a lot is put down to psychology in Brown's case, but when someone like Blaine makes a name appear, burnt onto the chest of a passerby, its either complete fraudulent bollocks or a miracle. There's no middle ground. I know I'm labouring the point, but it really irritates me when people say "wow, did you see Derren Brown guess the lottery numbers last night?", because either he didn't and its a lie, or he did and everything we thought we knew about logic and reason goes out of the window forever. Its not just a bit of fun, it's either a bit naff or a mind-blowing historical moment.
