The trouble is in close tight groups when someone decides to ignore the advice of the experienced coaches, they endanger not only themselves but everyone around them too. I imagine thats why the responses were a bit harsh.
It doesn't matter how much experience you have on the road. Doesn't mean you can get away with not following the coaches instructions. Unfortunately it seems like he learned this the hard way with a nasty injury.
I remember one Sunday session, this guy turned up who thought he could just do what he wanted. He was freaking me out so much with his erratic style and general idiocy, I was preoccupied with what he was going to do that I ended up almost causing a problem by trying to get him off my wheel.
