making something light and stiff is where the modern steels come into play. no point making something light out of skinny steel tubes if it handles like a wet fart.
EOM16, spirit, 853, 953 XCr mean you can build an oversize tubed frame that rides well but is still light. columbus are now doing spirit for lugs which is bigger O/D than old school steel tubes.
it was developed by richard sachs and dario pegoretti and called 'pegorichie' before it was made available to lesser framebuilders :-)
