It's not that they are overwhelmingly likely to be fake if you buy them on the street, it's that these cigars are unlikely to have been freeze-treated, with the result that you get them home and your humidor is overrun with weevils. This has happened to me. It's also what shut down the cigar lounge in Marylebone years ago.
