    Also, because the absurdity of discrediting contemporary art and artists by a comparison with Raphael and Bach (both of whom I agree are great) speaks for itself. Personally I think context is everything. Technical virtuosity does not equal cultural relevance.

    It is rather logically obvious that context is not everything. If it were, what could possibly be left to which it could form a context?

    The genius of Raphael or Bach of course goes far beyond technical virtuosity. There have been plenty of virtuosos, like Liszt, who were plainly not anywhere near the same league.
