isn't it "neither"? "neither" a borrower nor a lender be?
I suppose it's the same in essence but "never" is a bit more absolute, no?
Neighbour: "So sorry to disturb you for coming over this time of night sir, it's just the babby's got a touch of the cholic bless her poor soul and I've run out of milk, having squeezed the very life out of my good matronly breasts after using the very last of the milkman's delivery. I wondered - kind sor - maybe you might have a half-pint you'd be willing to see me right with until the marnin'....?"
RPM: "Never a borrower nor a lender be." (door closes)
Yeah I knew it as 'Neither...' not 'never'.

This is my first build (making my brother go fixed), it's currently the illegitimate offspring of an old rayleIgh and my shit ebay road bike that I rode to destruction in a few months two years ago.
Had a problem with the rear wheel slipping but my dad was able to construct a chain tug from some odds and ends and a fat welding kit and now thats fixed it's finally roadworthy. I think its come out pretty good.
yet to decide on the finishing touches but we're thinking of painting it blue with yellow lugs, matching the front wheel to the back (this will hopefully be my first wheel build) and getting chromey stem and handlebars. Maybe yellow grips/seat/tyres/cable we'll cross that bridge when we can be fucked really.
Just wanted to thank all you for the times i utfs and found exactly what I need. Turns out the trustly rubber mallet and some htfu is the solution in almost every case.

^ looks like a nice first build. I wouldn't paint it though - to me, yellow and blue sounds fairly horrible - the scatty look is the way forward...

To re-iterate the point - my first build (a wee while ago now), was yellow and blue, and it looks unbelievably garish.
Check my photo album on my profile page to see what i mean! -

Giz - beautiful! Did it originally have downtube shifters? What bits are on there?
Porter - stick the Rando on the back. You knows it makes sense! Nice bike!

Done, stuck another link in the chain so it's 32c front & back now, alreay landed my first barspin, after years of bmxing and not being able to do them! Really chuffed with it, barspin toe overlap is a bit of a pain but i'll get used to it.

...hummm painting the actual lugs is a big no no IMO... maybe line the lugs in yellow and just have the yellow tape and brake cable - less is best.
I think blue/yellow is a v hard combo to pull off well - the ciocc does it well, but its a proffessional design and paint job.
Just finished my 'trick' set up bike today, still a few bits i need to change untill i am completely happy with it but for now it'll do me nicely.
