    I think it's preposterous that people are saying wearing them is a BAD idea. I just don't get it. How can protecting your head be a BAD idea?

    There was a remark a while ago about rotational injuries which may be worsened/caused by helmets.

    Even disregarding this, the burden of proof is surely on the helmet companies to show why they are needed and effectve rather than on people to say why they don't wear them. And, so far, I have not seen anything to convince me of this.

    Compare: take this pill to prevent head injuries. The risk of head injury is vanishingly small, and there is no evidence to show that the pill is actually effective, but why would taking the pill be a bad idea?
