I never used to run headphones because I tried it with some awesome sound cancelling senneheisers, great for sound quality, great for nearly gettin yourself killed. I soon switched to Some Sony sports jobbies, that hang over the ear instead of in it, And blok out very little noise If any. Now I can't ride alone without them. I am still totally aware of all traffic, cycle motor or otherwise (well, as much as if no phones were worn) and I can have a great soundtrack for every ride! I've ridden them all through London (as I've been discovering it) and I'm telling you, if you like music at all, it's for the win. Drum 'n' bass don't really work for me, I've tried it... My favourite riding albums recently have been:
madlib-blunted in the bomb shelter- reggae/dub has a great beat
beats 'n' rhymes- hip hop of the 90's, all 3 albums - a bit generic but some real good tracks
and I actually had an awesome riding experience recently to a vince jones & grace knight album called "come in spinner"- some smooth jazz standards late at night is so peaceful to ride with, the whole thing was so cool...
But a lot of the time I jus got my iPod on random
I BACK IT! Get the little hangy-over-your-ears sporty numbers and get some beat to your ride!!!
