With everythning in life, it's not what you mean but what the other party takes from what you say that matters. It is therefore in order to call someone you know well and know will not take offence a bint but not in order to call someone who might consider it a derogatory label a bint.

I know the landlady in my local fairly well, I'll try it on her tonight:
