It's more suitable than a brakeless fixed wheel bike ;-)
Bring food and lights and you'll be fine. The pace is not too high and there will be plenty of stops.
-
• #53
Please let me know if this is suitable for you guys.
It is totally suitable. This will be one of the slower forum rides. If you managed to keep up on the Bridges ride, you'll be fine.
-
• #54
Martin, will be good to have you along! This ride will wait for everyone. It sounds as if you're fairly quick, anyway.
-
• #55
It's not slow, it's relaxed riding. We roll along, we wait at junctions, we enjoy the night.
Sounds like you're up to it but the only way to know is to try.
-
• #56
Cool =) I'll be looking forward to it.
I'm still waiting to confirm, I hope I can make it.
Practically I always cycle on 2-7, and never change gear. So it's almost Fixed Gear, somehow?
Unless I'm trying to cycle up a hill to the gates of Oblivion or something, those kind of hills are horrible!A friend of mine told me there is a fairly dangerous part of the cycle to Brighton, saying there is a huge downhill that bends and apparently 1 cyclist in 20,000 is fatal? Anyone hear of that?

To be totally honest, sound like BS.
There a few fast descents but if you stay in your lane and don't go shooting round blind corners then you'll be fine. Just common sense, innit.

Haha, yeah.
I hate it when I see careless Cyclists. Especially the ones who try and compete with you, and tend to go on the inside of a nice big truck.

Im still in the nursery, and have just done my first 7-bridges ride which was amazing! I would love to do an overnight ride to Brighton and meet some ladies to ride with too!

I have no idea which hill he could be referring to. The only massive downhill is Reigate Hill, which while long and steep is quite easy to ride. There's a fairly risky downhill on another route to Brighton, which we're not doing.

Come along, nina, there was a sad near-absence of women on the last one. Only one flew the flag.

That would mean at least one death a year from among the 27,000 on the BHF L2B and a few others throughout the year. Not really that likely is it.

Also, I'm unsure of everyone's bikes.
I'm not really that experienced with Cycles, I've only started earlier on in the year.
At the mo I cycle approx 100miles a week, in a few sessions.
I've got a Mountain Bike, but it is pretty fast and can keep up with some road bikes in experience. Or maybe they just poodle along?
It's a large Carera Subway, but a bit modified. New 1.25 wheels, lined with kevlar etc. This is an old photo, so it's a little different now.
Please let me know if this is suitable for you guys.
i did my first overnight to brighton on my mtb, was ok. good for the climbs but a little slow on some of the areas but you wont be left behind

Any idea how/when we will return to London?
Do a majority of the people usually take Train or Cycle back? Or something else... Like a Camel? =)

Bollocks to that. I'm racing.

Also, just checked the weather and it's looking good.
Smooth road surfaces, clear night, empty roads. Yes please.

If I can sort out pedals in time I'll definitely be up for this. It's been over three years since i've ridden London-Brighton however, and my leg has had nine operations in that time. got to be done
