Hi Don!
just dropped by to show off? Bit cocky putting this in the bike porn thread no?
Frame looks great but I'm hating that gruesome bar tape. What's your waiting list like?
Come on, you KNOW I am cocky... and pics that hawt are porn...
Hatin on the bar tape? geeez. You guys are so fixated on style...
Wait is only 4 months, at the moment.
all the don walker frames ive seen are made really well, but the builds/finishing are always horrendous.
that thing needs a carbon crankset and a nicer bar/stem combo. im sure it rides great as it is though.
Thanks, I take pride in my frame designs and finished product.
Again, hating on the builds... fwiw, the owner is a Product Manager at Zipp. He, like all Zipp employees, are required to ride parts that their company make; iow, he has to use Zipp Bar/Stem, Wheels, SRAM cranks and BB, etc, etc etc. He opted for the shiny tape as a joke...
what make are those wheels?
They are made special for DW bikes (Ha!). They are the ONLY set of 1080 track wheels on earth. Prototype.
Finely crafted frame.
But the bike overall is ugly as hell.
Ugly is fine, as long as its FAST! Also, I've seen ugly women ride fast... whats the diff?
+1
Also loads of spacers under a negative angle stem. What is it about people that can't get their head around the simplest priciples of geometry?
"A Straight Line Is the Shortest Distance between Two Points"
We have two points which need to be connected, the top of the headset and the centre of the handlebar. Taking a straight line from one to the other reduces the amount of material required to provide a given level of stiffness. Getting this connection stiff enough is a good idea if you want your sprint bike to handle right, and making it lighter for free is a no brainer.
He has a belly on him right now. He works 60-80 hours a week and doesn't get to ride like he used to. When the belly comes off, so do the spacers. If he could breathe normally, he wouldnt have the spacers.
^ Can't argue with the man's sense.
See my above comment.
It's a good bike but christ, are you still using that awful typography?
Yes, quite happily. Its only guys like you that complain. Once I had a little poll on another forum with several samples of what I wanted my new font to be. this one won. Plus, when you spend XXXX amount of $$$ on decals, you use them up before designing new ones. If you want, I'd gladly sell you my stash so I can afford a totally new brand/logo.
iow, why is it all about "style"? Ride your bike. Race your bike. Don't obsess with how it looks, its a tool, a method of transportation. Style is for hipsters.
