Also loads of spacers under a negative angle stem. What is it about people that can't get their head around the simplest principles of geometry?
"A Straight Line Is the Shortest Distance between Two Points"
We have two points which need to be connected, the top of the headset and the centre of the handlebar. Taking a straight line from one to the other reduces the amount of material required to provide a given level of stiffness. Getting this connection stiff enough is a good idea if you want your sprint bike to handle right, and making it lighter for free is a no brainer.
