(The thieves, not Scottish people.)
I heard Iain's heritage caught up on him and he sleep stole his own bike.
Should have bought mud guards.

UPDATE:
Police made an arrest and recovered my commuter bike (the black trek) this afternoon. I found it on a Gumtree ad last week. Link here. Note the carbon 'falks'. Hilarious.
Unfortunately this makes the chances of getting the migraine bike back a little slimmer as his mates will no doubt dump it or shift it on cheap.

Pique, you're a star mate - thanks so much for going to look for the bikes, that's a pretty generous thing to do.
I'm going down there next weekend to see if they can steal me a migraine bike. 'Must be stickered to a degree that will induce headaches within seconds of sight'.

dude, that sucks that it might make the chances of getting your headache back, but so happy they arrested the fucker. do you have the trek back yet?

I'll collect the trek tonight or tomorrow. The policeman i spoke to is a long-time cyclist and was really apologetic that it took so long for anything to happen (i reported the Gumtree ad and the name and address of the seller last Thursday), but really happy that they've got someone. We'll see what happens with the Raleigh, it may still surface.

fingers crossed man!
-
• #65
happy to hear you got one of them back
-
• #66
Mate that's awesome you got it back! One is better than nothing. Silver lining is you'll know how they got in, he'll get a record and means you should be able to claim back on house insurrance surely.
-
• #67
Glad to hear you got one of them back, like Turd said, better than nothing!

I really wasn't expecting to see either bike, so it's a total bonus to have one back. The 'suspect' has 2 previous convictions for handling stolen goods and being in the act of nicking bikes, which almost certainly means he's nicked many more that he hasn't been caught for. The main thing is that he's in custody and will be charged.

nice one, I really hope you get the other one back.
A couple of years ago we got stolen from home, and they nick one bike from a flatmate, the police recover year and half later, and call my flatmate to go to pick it up, so you never know -

Please let us know what happens with the thief, I hope he gets a proper sentence, good luck getting the other one back.

proper sentence? like community service and fine?

I suspected P. Mandleson. Good at getting up drainpipes and always short of the mortgage payments.
Yup, I think having some faux rock band with a poodle-haired egomaniacal front man staying on your balcony will deffo stop the burglars
'ang about, that's razorlight innit, doh…
