Almost finished, just need the grips, and some final tweaks to the saddle etc.
Alex, it is looking great. Have you been out for a spin on the Hasting Hills, yet?
How where the Alps?

Don't worry, your chain has invisibility coating so we can't see it's slack.
Slowly getting there, I know slack chain and dodgy photo.

+1 - and are you sure about spending 5-6 times the cost of your bike on a brake lever?!
I think that would make a fantastic little beater, since it cost you £6, why not try and keep it as low as possible?

Slangen that Mercian is stunning. White wee a gogo.

Well thank you guys I was ready to get slaughtered. It is hard to find good parts where I am, Sweden. But I have got lots of help from guys on this site. The paint is original from late 50:s early 60:s. It has quite a dent in the top tube from handle bars swinging around. Have sent photos to Mercian showing the damage and they tell me to keep it as is an ride it keeping an eye out for cracks and so forth. It would be "killing puppies" big time to have it repainted. If I really like the bike i might have the dent filled by Mercian and have them just repaint as much as needed, maybe stripe part of the top tube red? The white tape will be shellacked (spelling?) to blend in better and a regina pista silver chain goes on there...
Again thanks, this is my first build and I am happy to hear that some of you like it.

The saddle and bar angle are a bit odd, but I like the bike. Nice one.

Why the fuck do you want risers really? Fucking useless on a track/racing frame.
Not true! Mine work quite well on the Lo Pro. I can even steer with them ;)

Right, posting up Go! Ellis' bike, on the hope that it'll make her post...
A proper 'all bits from the forum or the spares box' job that was meant to come in under £100. Until some fucker nicked the front wheel and we had to go and source a new one:
New cranks / chainset pending... panicking actually, as its needed for the bridges ride.
Frame: odd lo pro thingy from Marcola back in April
Wheels - front suzue hub on a velocity aero from Flickwg
Rear - blimey, Gabes sold me that rim about a year ago, and its sat behind my sofa ever since... on a surly 130 f/f
Hainault forks from George Sportif I think, and then rethreaded by Retro di Corsa
Brakes and BB from M A R I E, so thank you all...One of those bikes that makes you grin the minute you ride it.

Okay just returned back from a weekend at my folks in Scotland. Came away with two bikes from my dad. A Raleigh Tourer with a 2 speed hub and a 6 speed cassette with hub brakes...heavy as hell but a good ride none the less and this amazing chrome Carlton which Ive had my eyes on for a good while. Now too big for him he kindly gave it to me. Prob the most beautiful frame ive ever seen. Spent sunday night polishing it and its almost perfect. Cant wait to start building it up but going to be a slow process. My dad actually had it built up fixed with campy bits in the 70's and said it looked lovely so may follow suit.

building for someone else, all it needs is a set of riser bars and a front wheel and i'm done (front wheel is off the road bike project in back ground).
Why the fuck do you want risers really? Fucking useless on a track/racing frame.
Because it suits the needs of the person riding the bike better genius. Besides the fact it's not being used for track or racing.
The drops are my track ones I'm using while building it, shouldn't you be complaing about the sprung saddle as well? -

ha! I guess youre right but i have no qualms about spending money on quality kit (especially when it looks so damn good) and i get the feeling im gonna get right into this fixie malarky and will probably upgrade everything as i go (Im a sucker for nice bike kit)

i think you've done a really good job there mate. Did you weld the ends on yourself? If so, well done!
Loving both sets of bars, and especially the saddle dangler!
