The easiest way of getting a cheap build is to buy a dusty old road bike from the local paper/boot sale/neighbour then remove the gears and use a spacing kit to make it ss. £100 is a totally achievable budget if you use this method. Trying to get everything separately will most likely cost a whole load more even if you are using the shittest of the shit components.

Is this a lump of shit or stolen, for £145 and a bit of tidyup (Although it looks totally mank, and obviously isnt a ss)....

What about this for moog's suggestion: buy the whole bike and then custom..
http://www.gumtree.com/london/50/43644550.html
Although I would need a new set of bars, ... a saddle and maybe some other bits? for about £25.
Plus I'm about 6"0, is a 22" going to be too big?
...not sure. Sorry I can't post in my own thread, still in nursery.

Could I get someone's opinion on last frame there, are the dents not quite severe, would it be ok to ride?
okay, okay, pretty please could I get an opinion
-
• #35
its fine, like it says in the description, if you dont mind having dents and shit, its purely cosmetic if he says its structually sound
-
• #36
...It won’t affect the strength of the frame but it is quite obvious... hence £85.
okay, okay, pretty please could I get an opinion
If Hilary says its ok, then there's a good chance it will be.
It doesn't look like its going to fall apart.
There is a danger is that if its been in an accident then there may be other weaknesses you can't see.
If the frame fails as a result of the dent, and you suffer loss or damage, then there is a strong chance you will be able to be compensated for your loss.*
- as Hilary prob knows this and sells lots of stuff here and on ebay, he's not likely to risk it for £85.

If Hilary is saying its OK to ride then I'd be very surprised if it wasn't.
Love that Sibbet too!

jack sibbit - the mistery of finding a new headset for it......
-
• #43
The headset is fine and these generally last extremely well - I do have spare races and can supply if anybody needs some - but I don't think I have the top piece (which is called the headclip) but they do turn up fairly frequently. This one I think is BSA and was the best you could get in the 1930s...
