I'm curious about this. I've a frame that really needs a respray so I plan to take it to Armourtex, but it's fairly badly rusted and has been overpainted with brushed blue gloss. From the brochure it sounded like the powdercoating process would burn off old paint and corrosion, and I thought the it would cover up most blemishes, but ought I strip the paint and give the frame a rub down before taking it in? Any ideas?
No, they burn off the old paint, blast it, then powdercoat. It won't cover up blemishes though - pin holes, dents, deep scratches etc will show through to some extent. If it's badly pitted, I reckon it'll show.
