  • Was your seatpost secured with quick release or more firmly? I'm not asking because I want to fish for going off on a 'you shouldn't have used QR' spiel but because I'm wondering whether thieves now come prepared to undo seatpost clamps secured by non-QR bolts.

no oliver, i only use QR on my road bike and my underpants ;) they would have needed two 5mm allen keys is all though. i am kinda just pleased the rest of the bike was still there. abus lock round rear wheel and rear triangle. kryptonite mini-d round front wheel frame and rail - just mainly annoyed about the saddle and the fact i shouldn't really have been using the pretty bike so much

Nooo, not the one we saw at norths birthday drinks? :(

yeah, that's the one. that saddle only saw two weeks of riding. it's only a saddle though - feel way more sad for those on here losing their whole rig

In Russell Square?? okay that's not exactly good, but then again, a spiderweb-pattern saddle is pretty distinctive to ignore.

i'll keep a look out for one, probably those kids from the block near Marchmont Street who been hitting some bike locked outside Waitrose in the Brunswick Centre.

cheers ed, yeah i have heard stories around these parts. there is a guy in our office who has special permission to bring his complete bike (some kind of ss cannondale) into the office. i envy him a bit. and now just a little more.
