  • One of the problems with an unpainted steel frame is that when the frame is stripped down it exposes some slightly crude workmanship which has been covered by the paint job. Furthermore you often lose definition in your lugs by stripping the paint off. The best option is to get a frame built specifically for the purpose of never being painted. You can then laquor it afterwards to prevent further rust.

Demon frameworks builds their frames to a very high standard anyway. So you'll have good lug definition and no tell tail spots of brass from imperfections. You could also go for a stainless version and make it stripped down but rust free.
