I came close to getting one of last years models, when they were on sale at Stif.co.uk. Just did'nt the right funds at the right time.

these SS 29ers all look to have tiny gears, what sort of inches do you run these things on? ive only recently started riding offroad, on what is a botched roadbike-cyclocross. im still trying to work out what kind of bike i want for this.

Its mainly due to the big wheels..
A) causing you to need a smaller ratio to achieve the same gear inches as a 26er, and
B) simply making the chainring look small.

I think about 45-55" is the norm. I was planning to go 32:18 which is about 52" on a fat tyred 29er. I fell for the gates belt drive system though and ended up with 46:24 (46 is the smallest chainring at the mo), which is about 56". Hope I like the gear its bloody expensive to change :S
