  • They look like dia-compe tech 3 levers or clones of them.
    Old bmx levers.

  • That's perfect mate, thanks.

  • I'm looking for some forks along the style of the ones below. Looked around and can't find anything like them (except some very expensive carbon at over £350). Anyone know what they are, or something that has the same look and doesn't cost the earth.

Also wanted some simple risers, along the lines of these. I've seen a few about, but any recommendations would be good. Looking for a black set as pictured.

Thanks for any help and funny comments.

  • i had some noname carbon forks just like that, super cheep ....free infact

  • I'll take a set from the same place.

  • You can buy risers like that in Halfords for a tenner

As for fors, Deda Blackstreams are a good bet

  • I've got Specialized risers, can't remember the model but Ano black and the most comfortable rise/ sweep EVER!!

They look something like what i'm after, but what does available for 1 1/8" Integrated (Hidden) frames mean? Will they fit my Leader frame?

  • Those are oversize 30mm risers, usually downhill mtb specific, so check out mtb shops as you will need an accompanying stem to accomodate your oversize bars, which may limit your stem choice as this not an extremely common size. If you want something easier to get hold of that you can put bmx style stems on, I would recommend Gusset open prison bars, currently running a set on my bike, and they are very comfy and very strong, i've got a 3 inch rise on mine.

  • Looking at stems at the mo, 25.4 x 90mm x 5° Rise. So wanted some bars to fit. Seen some at both BLB and 14 for about £44. Not sure if they will look the same as what I'm after once on the bike. Having trouble picturing it. Also think maybe they'll be to wide.

Those are quite cheap, actually. Those'd fit a more modern frame quite nicely.

44 quid - crazy money - just go into any Evans and there will be a wide selection, no need to spend more than 25 quid

  • You could also get the Leader forks? They do a driled version too

  • Not sure that leader fork version comes with a hole for a brake. Says track only. Also they are over £100 and I'll have to import and might get hit with duty. Also the rake is 30mm, which I take it will mean pedal strike. The other version (deda) mention above is 43mm. Have I got this right?

    I'll be checking out Evans.

  • hi all

i have a frame that was re enameled 30 years ago and in doing so has lost all its decals,
i was wondering if anyone had any idea what it could be.
its got a heart engraved on the outside of the fork lugs and a line of card symbols( hearts/ spades etc)engraved to the inside.
it also had some top components on the actual bike/ record/ zeus/ gb engaved bars
aswell as nervex lugs, so im guessing it was a decent frame.
ive attached some pics, if anyone could help me that would be great,

    thanks

    mark

  • I'm guessing this is either a Harry Monk or Alfie Noakes

  • It's definately a bike.

  • Check the steerer tube when you take the forks out, you might find some marks. Wait til you've stripped it, then check around the seat lug cluster and rear ends as well as under the BB shell. Repainting often fills them.

    Nice lugs.

  • its got a serial number on the bb, and is stamped nervex but no maker, nothing on the rear ends either.i thought maybe the engraved card signs on the inside of the forks might be a giveaway to some bike guru.but ill have a look and see if i can see anything else when its stripped tonight.

  • So you have a number?

    I feel dirty and used.

  • i do indeed

  • Recently bought this frame as a pre converted fixed gear. was lying in the back of a bike shop. The whole bike was very cheap. Stuck some deep V's on it, a new break lever and a bigger back cog. It’s got no markings on it at all apart from the knackered paint job and a bit of decal...

I don't really know too much about bikes in general but every bike shop I’ve taken it into has been seriously admiring the frame and I’m wondering if I’ve picked up a bit of a bargain. It’s got a 531c sticker on it, that might have been stuck on for show but its light as hell. In fact it's lighter than alot of my friend’s expensive fixies. I’ve been doing a bit of research on the steel type and it seems to be fairly high quality competition racing steel. You can just make some lettering out on one of the tubes. It looks like "PH" or "FH"?

Anyway, if anyone has any ideas it'd be great to know what type of frame this is. If it's a good'n I’d quite like to restore it to it's original paint job. If not then I think I’ll just powder coat it black.

    Cheers.

  • Out of interest, what's the rear spacing?
