  • what kind of idiot has a titanium fixed frame?

  • We need to discuss a Tixed™ forum ride.

With your comment in mind, it may be a little like this:

  • good film that.

plus you get two seconds of hardcore pornography towards the end.

  • We need to discuss a Tixed™ forum ride.

    'The Chinese Takeaway Ride'

  • two seconds is all i need.

  • i am always willing to acknowledge my own idiocy, hence the reason for a Ti frame

  • I have the prototype/demo ti burls fixed bike with the titanium fork. The quality/ride is amazing. I would recommend it without hesitation. Let me know if you have any questions.

    So nice!
To save more weight you can take that chain tug off ;)

  • My new Burls fixed has just arrived. The frame is beautiful. So nice in fact , i've had to re think my components. Justin has been an absolute pleasure to deal with, before, during and after the build. Pics when it's finally together.

  • lookin forward to seeing this ^

mines almost finished, my collegue is just putting together the final draft on bikecad.

will put the blueprint on here when its done.

really fucking excited and i haven't even ordered it yet.

  • Burls also do the diamond shaped ti down tube which apparently makes the frame much stiffer.. although for me it's not the prettiest thing in the world..

  • I doubt that would be an issue except for very large frame sizes/heavy riders.

The regular plain guage frame's got vertical whojimmywotsit without sacrificing lateral thingamejig.

  • im toying between aero tubing or standard.

pretty much 50/50 at the moment will have to decide tomorrow

  • titanium + belt drive ability (i.e. S&S coupling on rear triangle) = lightweight rocket.

The Trek District is surprisingly light for what it is, I can imaging how much lighter a titanium frame with carefully selected part would be.

  • Titanium's only as light as aluminium, give or take. Carbon's still the lightweight winner.

Frame design and wheelset would be the most 'rocketful' aspects.

If titanium had to be crowned king of any one attribute of bicycles, it would be Comfort.

  • the trek district is also a very boring ride.

besides a chain with carefully selected parts will be pretty fucking light anyway

i found this quite interesting when researching

  • Have you thought about (polished) 953?

  • This thread is starting to look familiar...

  • The crane,
I had a similar dilemma on the whole tube thing. I nearly had Justin make me a TT fixed to run on deep rims, but in the end decided on a more classic look with standard tube to run on low rims. Mine's a 'bike for life' everyday ride so i want it to look just as good in 5 years time.

  • this is my basic design ignore the colours, decals, shifters and casette.

im gonna get the diamond shaped downtube to increase stiffness, and the integrated seattube wont go so high, also im probably going to get wishbone seat stays.

i just emailed justin it this evening so hopefully the plans should go into the works soon, although apparently the workshop is closed the whole month of august for cleaning and repairs

  • Hi Crane.

I just received one of these babies. I it is sweet! I have a Fuji Track Pro that I love the geometry of and sent Justin the details of that, which were then copied, taking into account the length and rake of the Easton fork I've put in.

It seems plenty stiff so far, but I haven't had a proper go at it yet and still waiting on some new wheels...

  • why is titanium fork is rarely seen on titanium bike? is it simply too expensive or diffcuilt to produce?

  • why is titanium fork is rarely seen on titanium bike? is it simply too expensive or diffcuilt to produce?

I think it is pretty much a cost thing. Difficult to design/make but again can be done if willing to pay. Certainly looks nicer than a carbon fork and is more in keeping with the frame.
And if someone is paying £1500 for a frame then why not pay £600 for the fork? (made up price)

  • I have a burls titanium courier frame and it is a lovely thing

I went a bit OTT with some of the bits... Deda Synapsi bars

...well, as the UCI banned them, they were going cheap!
