    Ace - Ta!

  • The frame is a Tifosi Pista CX with Miche Advanced crankset with shimano freewheel. I want to change the crans to record and change the bb ro campy Pista and change freewheel to eno.

One of these? - seems pretty decent spec as is - are you running it SS of Fixed?

  • Hey guys, I'm Tim, finally stopped lurking now I found a bike!

  • Hello Canadian ladies, welcome to the forum :D

Thanks... I have a ton of things to figure out in not a ton of time, so I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions!

Im sure most of us wouldnt mind helping when they're not busy moaning ;)

  • Yes, that's the model. I want to gradually upgrade a lot of it but want to start with the transmission as it creaks a little. Ideally I want to ride it with Campag Record Pista cranks and bb and with a decent freewheel as a ss. It has the Miche Advanced cranks and bb at the moment with shimano freewheel. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

  • Hey all. Finished my first singlespeed conersion today so thought I'd better stop lurking and join. Found my father in laws old racer, bought a wheel off Zane Chaos and I'm good to go. Should be coming down for the bridges ride too. Looking forward to meeting folks.

  • Hello all! Finally got an account after much time lurking. I'm Ollie, and im from South Australia (noticed some of the aussies are big on this forum!) but yeah, been riding my conversion for quite a while, but just bought a nice 80s Australian track frame which im trying to build up with some campy/cinelli stuff.

I'll also be in london for the end of September as well, so i might need some pointing in the right direction once im a little closer to coming! Cheers guys

    Welcome :P Here's your thread! http://www.londonfgss.com/thread16851.html

  • Ha! Cheers! Theres a lot to agree about on that aussie thread, but being from South Aus means that the state was the only one built convict-free. We also tend to have nicer accents to people from the Eastern states, but we cop a lot of shite anyway because Adelaide is a bit of a nothing town. Our beer is good though!

And normally I'd hit back with an Aussie sporting dominance reference, but the ashes are looking pretty dicey at the moment, so best to keep my mouth shut!

Anyway, I'm planning on seeing the foals play while im over, but i dont really know any of the good 'gig guides' online or anything. Time out is about the best ive got sadly, but if you know of any decent local websites/info which might enhance my time while im in london i'd appreciate it guys!

  • Hi all
1st post so play nice! Been riding my Beater SS (freewheel) for a few months & loving it.
    Andy

  • what a great forum! am new to all this and looking forward to building my first fixie :)

they certainly are. this forum is quite tolerant of fat australians.

  • Hiya, just joined. Not ridden my fixie (or any bike) in anger for more than ten years, didn't even know they'd now got a following until a couple of weeks ago. Really need to swop out the frame for one that fits me though lol, and time for a new rear wheel I think.

Looks like some great stuff here, should be fun!

Is it drilled for a rear brake? You shouldnt have a problem fitting the Campag stuff on it, just make sure you get the right BB size - You dont need the ENO on that, get a phil wood.

  • I'm new. I'm praying it doesn't kill my cred, but I am under the wing of that foul pestilence that is Dancing James.

  • good luck

  • has the prancing lancer shown you his boil yet?

  • Hello all, I'm new to this lark but am already seriously enjoying riding fixed. I am currently considering the change away from cottered cranks, by which I mean scraping together money ;)

Time to sift the 'for sale' section...

  • Thanks, it is not drilled for a rear brake so will fix a front one for now or would you advise have rear only? Phil Wood do freewheels?

  • has the prancing lancer shown you his boil yet?

Good lord, that sounds like terrifying initiation rite I'll have to endure. Before I met James, I had heard of his legendary saddle sores.

  • Hi all. Just joined this week after lurking for a couple of months. I'm an old fart (58) returning to fixed after a 5 year lay off following a nasty head injury - work related not bike. Been riding fixed since the 60's - mainly as a training bike - with a history of road/endurance/24 hour. The injury screwed up my balance mechanism initially but now things are sorted.

Noticed lots of people riding fixed and started looking at getting back into it. Found this place and have got up to speed with all the amazing info on here. Collected a heap of bikes and tools over the years but sadly sold them off after the accident as I was told I would not be able to cycle again.

Been riding a junk hybrid for a year to get the motor skills back and have now decided to buy an off the peg fixed to see how I get on. Fingers crossed!

    Damn, the Polo looks fun.....

Welcome MetroLandman. We need more of your kind since this forum is full of know-it-all youngsters like myself. If you're interested in polo there is the European Championships happening this week in London.
