Pedals and straps were used with the plastic ends already attached. Would probably have fitted them any way. Straps are short and stiff enough that they don't flap.

Will go with padded plastic tape as it's comfortable and easily cleaned. Have already tried white which looks good and black which was ok. Guess I have to also test red and yellow but don't see them as winners. Soyo grips are also an option.

Using Izumi Super Toughness or ESH, both have gold/black links. Not sure if there any Italian chain manufacturers still around. Good luck finding an affordable Regina. SRAM PC-1 is a great low cost silver model and Wippermann is supposed to be really good.

White tape for sure, I have a road frame in this colourway, and have tried all the colours you suggested. White all the way :)
