• #837
I'll roll with the crew tonight.
Can anyone show us a decent back-road route once we gt south of the river to avoid the nodderpeloton that is my normal route?! Please?!
-
• #838
What is your normal route Skully? I don't think you can avoid the nodderpeloton. I have mapped a suggestion but I guess that is what you would do? There are some backroads but they go a bit all over the place and i always get lost. Kennington Road is my favourite cycling road. It gets a bit busier on the A3 and around Stockwell but nothing bad.
I won't be joining you at Trafalgar Square but I'm leaving Kennington around 7h30 so who knows I may see you guys on the way (if you are slow).
-
• #839
What is the nodder peleton? The A3?
-
• #840
A bunch of guys who race like hysterical cows, they catch you up at the lights and park in front of you, they puff up, roll up the hi-vis, push the helmet down the neck, spin like crazy, undertake as often as they can and mow down peds. Stay away from them at Stockwell and if you are a woman and overtake them, well be warned, it sends them completely over the edge.
-
• #841
Ah yes know it well. I tend to use Wandsworth Road which avoids the sea of hi-viz.
-
• #842
Ok so be there 6:45 for a 6:55 departure. If you aint there you're getting left behind (as I once was!), cba with lists of people etc.
EDIT: And the route I know is slightly different to that, and involves coming past Vauxhall via south lambeth road rather than going past Oval, but if anyone has one they think is exceptionally good I'll be happy for them to show us
-
• #843
I wouldn't go down Brixton Road if I were you...
I'll try and come and meet you all at Traf Sq. Radius, I assume you mean a 6.55 departure?
-
• #844
Hey guys, Trixidix should be really good this week as its the first year birthday, prepare for awesomeness!
-
• #845
Radius, I assume you mean a 6.55 departure?
Who? Me? What did I say? ;)
-
• #846
Cool - it's noob nite again. I'll be there for the journey South too. I vote for Vauxhall Bridge and a bit of wild meandering across 5 lanes of hot, angry motorist - but that's just how I roll.
-
• #847
I usually do Waterloo bridge which can be a bit calmer but w/e we'll see when we get there.
-
• #848
And there's the sunny cycle route round the back where I always bump into john MA3K
-
• #849
Vauxhall Bridge: pelotons of cyclists + fast drivers. A winner, without a doubt.

Are we doing Wests on thursday? Dov did you find a decent pub to get to with your absurdly enforced 'must be north of river' requirement?
I'd be interested in riding to the South drinks if anyone's about
