  • ^have you looked at the others on there?

  • Have been with Virgin for a few years now and never had a problem with them. No landline needed is the biggest benefit for me.

  • I'm tight and didn't want to stump up the cash for BT to install/reconnect a phone line so I went with Sky. Got their broadband and I really can't complain. It's quick, reliable and not particularly pricey. They've got my bill wrong a couple of times though (for the phone line) and they're quick to rectify mistakes and throw in extras to keep you sweet. The helpline is cheap and they're waaaaaaaay more helpful than BT.

I never thought I'd be praising Sky. What the fuck has happened to me?

  • Back row: balki, hippy, slamm
    Front row: murts, hilbillly

  • Worse than TalkTalk?

the colour of spring was an o.k. album but i find it hard to quantify broadband performance with how much 'lifes what you make it' gets my foot tapping

  • Depends where you are really Mark- if you have an analogue line PM me the number and I'll run it through the check-O-matic and let you know what you can get, from whom, and throw in a light salting of advice such as "BT are utter cunts, avoid them".

  • Worse than TalkTalk?

Argh fucking TalkTalk, my parents got that, and they're sooooooooo crap. Fuckingfuckingufkcfucking stupid carphonewarephoneandtheircrap

  • Back row: balki, hippy, slamm
    Front row: murts, hilbillly

hilbillly rocking the 'full butter' look.

  • Hate to say it, but Sky are great. Never any problems - no downtime etc. Good reliable and cheap (when done as a package)

  • Depends where you are really Mark- if you have an analogue line PM me the number and I'll run it through the check-O-matic and let you know what you can get, from whom, and throw in a light salting of advice such as "BT are utter cunts, avoid them".

Unfortunately I don't have a number, just a socket with a dead line. The person I bought the place off hadn't lived there for a while and, when she did, didn't use a landline - so the number has vanished in the mists of time. It's Brixton but, more than that, I can't say!

BTW I haven't forgotten about the work thing we discussed at Wests a couple of weeks ago. Will get to you on that soonish.

  • Depends if the line has been stopped or ceased- if it has been stopped then it will still have a numebr associated with it, which you can ask BT for, if ceased then you are buggered.

0800 800 152 should be BT for that question to be asked.

I can have a look at what is in the Brixton exchange, but a number makes things a lot easier.

  • Left to right: playswellwithotters, balki's dad, Donut!, wibble, JD (before the operation)...

  • zen. expensive but worth it for the lack of downtime or hassle and real people to talk to if you need any tech support.

avoid plusNet like the plague. biggest bunch of cuntz ever.

I've been with plusnet for the last 5 years. Never had a problem with them. The thing I like about them is the fact that all the engineers, hardware and support are all physically in the same place so stuff usually gets resolved fairly quickly.

This is worth a look too.

  • Plusnet were bought by BT in 2007, but have managed to f*ck things up repeatedly using their own engineers since then.

  • marky I've got Be Unlimited, unlimited downloads, upto 20meg broadband, mine usually works out at about 17meg, about £18 quid a month, never falls over, no hassle, was with plusnet, but they were charging me about the same for a substantially slower connection and with a capped download limit.

also when I had issues setting up, (me beign stupid, rather than the machinery being fucked) they were quick and competent on the phone...

  • BE do have a good rep overall, nice and fast if you are close to an exchange, speed falls faster with distance on ADSL2+ than on ADSL Max though.

  • I'm liking what I've got with them at the minute, as I'm on their adsl2 trial so have 15-16meg down, 1 meg up and no caps (that I've noticed) for the same price as the normal broadband.
Admittedly I did look at Be for the better speeds but this was before I got on the trial so haven't bothered to move since then.

  • I'm with BE. I could go sky or O2 for cheaper but I like be no nonsense and they are rated better than the others in speed tests and user satisfaction. BEen with them for 4 years now

  • zen. expensive but worth it for the lack of downtime or hassle and real people to talk to if you need any tech support.

    Exactly how I found them.

  • O2 (which bought BE and rebranded it to their own customers) are great. BT usually gives you the old "up to 16MB" which means 8 but O2 said I could have 22MB and they really gave me 22MB.

  • Madasafish. (breakdown of b.band tariffs)
Small ISP. - not the cheapest but everything always (continues touching wood) works and when I have had a problem very easy to resolve (local rate number)

PM me if you want a referral code (you get some money off and so do I)

  • Madasafish are PlusNet, they merged a while ago.

  • Clockwise from left: cajeta, el_squire, pajamas, EM...

  • bethere
    18 quid/month for 24 mbit

    works perfect

  • Left to right: VanUden, adoubletap, Bernie, Aroogah...
