I would argue that, due to the state of higher education in this country, it is harder to find a useful degree than a useless one. Even the supposedly good ones from supposedly good universities are marred horrifically by poor teaching/funding, or even a simple lack of understanding of the subject in question (or questionable subject).
Chris woodhead is right. HE is not for everybody. It is, for the most part, a waste of time which creates a huge amount of debt for the country, while simultaneously preventing people from then getting a job.
