Yeah you need those things brazed on your forks (like in the picture) or bosses (like the bottle cage bosses/mounts on the downtube). You can use P-Clips if you don't have forks like this though.

Thats good to know, as if I ever want to have a rack like that, id rather mine was at the front not the back.
