  • this has been bugging me for a while. Whenever i watch any pro cyclists, thaw always seem to have the more aero wheel at the rear, for example a tri spoke up front and a disc at the back. Could someone please explain why all the single speeders and fixies on the road seem to do the opposite and have the aero wheel up front. Is there a valid reason or did blb just put so many images of it on their site that people have just copied them?

The front wheel creates the most drag, but it is also the wheel you would least like to be blown sideways by the wind. TT'ers compromise between aero considerations and stability by having a disc rear and a deepsection/spoke type front. This is also covered by UCI regulations.

As for fixies. Well if you riding pretty upright on a pair of risers, you obviously could'nt give a monkeys about aero. Its mostly about the look (possibly strengh too). I for one like my bikes to look nice.
