• I think I will be doing DD fixed now.

  • Only if it is a brand new treck.

    phew...it's a Giant

  • phew...it's a Giant

Haha, piss taking fail on my part. Have you put the spok on it yet? ;)

  • for you andy, i might just adorn the spok for tomorrow

  • Cheers Will.

  • I'm not sure, the big scary climb all the way up highgate should take us around 6 hours. You'd best leave home at around 13.45 and stay there until you see us.

Pub will be open by then. Spot of lunch maybe?

  • Not too interested in Stonehenge, but I'm considering L-B-L. Hillbilly and who else riding back? Even 100 (binary) would make up a group. Coppi might be interested.

  • will be there...
might even ride back (need a lot of miles in)
what is the average speed you are aming for?

  • is anyone printing out a crib sheet for the route or have you got the route stored on your internal hardrive object?

also is the route planned back, or are we going to have to pay attention on the way there/lay a trial of bread crumbs?

  • what is the average speed you are aming for?

I think it is 20mph Gina,
gonna up my gearing for this one

  • i'm up for there and back but after doing loop-d-loop last week on the way to brighton...i'm not navigating either way
20mph average? people on this forum are getting too fit.

  • I think it is 20mph Gina,
gonna up my gearing for this one

the geared bike it will be then
    cheers

  • officially out . apologies to you all. have a great ride

I was planning on winging it from memory but will now be borrowing Scott's Garmin, should make it much easier to stick to the route.

  • A note to all on the Bletchley-The Stones portion of the route.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to bail on this portion of the ride due to some unforseen personal reasons. I have somewhere that I need to be later tomorrow, rather than Sunday morning as I initially expected.

I will now be leading the ride out from London then aiming to turn around and ride back after a pint. No more, no less.

Should be a good ride y'all.

One last thing, please do not be late, we are leaving at 8 on the dot so you should aim to be at the easties pub before that.

  • Is there anybody, other than Mikec doing this ride fixed?

  • I'll stick the route on my 705 this evening (although definitely wouldn't recommend total reliance on either me or technology). I did think it looked like there might be a better alternative when leaving St. Albans which would avoid going through Hemel Hempstead. Avoids the A road, and is a couple of miles shorter at the expense of 150' or so more climbing...

    Link

According to the satellite view, the road is closed after it goes under the M1 but if google reckons the route's ok, I'm assuming the images are out of date. I can put both routes in at any rate, and if anyone has suggestions for an alternative route back I can do that as well.

  • I'll be checking over the route tonight before I load it up onto the Garmin.
I'll post the confirmed route up here when I'm done.

  • cool will be good to have you on the way back em.

Brun - hopefully with a couple of garmins and maybe a bit of iphone imterventionwe should be able to make it!

    Sorry to hear that, P.

To the others: I'll do a route sheet based on the latest version, and then from Hungerford onwards we can benefit from PGM's local knowledge.

Should still be a good ride!

I going to bail, sorry fellas, have a nice ride you all

  • My phone can map the route on the GPS - not as good as the Garmins but good enough. I can stick with a group (well, the group sticks with me!) and navigate.

So in between us we have something like 3 GPSs.
