a quick update,
i've now wrapped it with some cloth rim tape and secured it with insulation tape to stop the lock vibrating against the frame itself, and it is now completely silent.
No problems at all with it.
I know its only a few simple velcro straps, nothing revolutionary, but it works perfectly and gets that dead weight away from my body. Very pleased with it.
i should note that on the U-bend part i layered the cloth tape to about 5 layers thick then secured it with the insulation tape.
