At 2am you should chill out. It is dark, you are tired, you need to have 100% control of your car. What is the rush?
I know to a lot of people it seems that i'm a car loving nazi, but i'm not =P At 2am, i'm very rarely tired, anytime i'm in a car, I always aim to be completely focussed and in complete control of the car, going 80mph on a motorway does not mean you're not in control of the car, nor is it unsafe in the vast majority of cases, I would never drive past my limits in a car (unless on a track of course). Sure, some people will want to chill out and relax and pootle along, and that's fine, but just because something suits one person it should be applied to everyone, I don't agree with people riding brakeless and wouldn't do it myself, but I let them do what they want, it's their choice.
