I've not seen it mentioned anywhere, so in case anyone wanted to know (might save another thread...) it is extremely easy to remove decals that are outside the clear coat by heating them with a hair dryer and then scraping them off with something blunt and plastic (I used a cateye light belt clip). It only took me about a cup of tea cooling time to do half my surly this afternoon. Looks much better for it too.
